  • mellow YOLO

I'm so tired today and I don't feel well.  Sometimes looking back at what was going on last year helps. This is one year ago today, from my private blog. "I’m hoping the last of our below freezing nights is past now. Woke up to 26 degrees this morning. This whole spring has been so bizarre, they’re calling it 4th coldest on record since the 1800s for SW MO." That sounds mighty familiar, in the 20's this week last few mornings. I'm sure we do this every year and we just forget. I was also already having allergy probs from all the wild cedars and juniper and maples around here. Every year about this time I slump really hard. Spring is not my friend. I'm not sure what's going on in this pic, but it looks like Spidey fell down.

But you guessed it, I'm WORKING. Have already spent an hour on stuffs and getting chores going, and I may just have to knuckle down on some chocolate. I'm kind of getting a work schedule going that might pull me away from twitter more and more the next few weeks, crossing my fingers I can meet a new artificial deadline I've set for myself. It'll be tough. In the meantime, I live vicariously through anyone who can pop tylenols and sip margaritas with their lunches. You know I'm winging it sans little helpers, right? Right.

Just gotta keep moving, like a pants off dance off. YOLO.

Actually, that YOLO sent me off on a wild free association spree, so here, have some fun stuff while I have a bumper car kind of brain day. Click this to see more.

I've had stats up long enough now to see that my Lexx blog is definitely going to pull ahead. Tomorrow I'll go pro on my stats package, I'm liking the details I'm seeing. I've had Pinky stats since Feb 18, fortuna since Feb 22, and bluejacky since Mar 5, after having no internal stats at all since Sept 1st and the super glitchy site meter stats finally going back up around the holidays. One new thing with this server migration is now I can see the spam being filtered out. I got nearly 3000 spam hits on one blog post at fortuna in the two months right after navigation came back up, so I can really appreciate now what my stat counters filter out. The only way I got it to stop was to turn comments off on posts over 10 days old, another nice luxury with this server migration. Anyway, the old sweet feeling is back, seeing my Lexx peeps popping in to look around.

    fortunastatsmap3-25-14

That map is a little misleading, only shows most recent. This is the compilation of countries so far in the last 4 1/2 weeks. Before the server migration I logged 36 countries on one post and over 80 countries on the whole blog. Once in awhile I get a real treat when I get to see someone overseas in U.S. military comb through every Lexx film review post like they're watching the movie. I know some people think what I'm doing is dumb, and maybe even a waste of time, but there are Lexx fans out there feeling blue and missing the good ol' days.

Yesterday started out pretty rough and then just plain got hard through the afternoon, but I pulled it together and got that phone call with the publisher done, and might be doing another one today. I'm always amazed how much I get done on my roughest days. One of my thoughts about the evolution of life is that misery drives us on, we either curl up and die or keep seeking relief and comfort, whether it's through activity or changing location or finding nutrients. I think humans are pretty mixed up about that nowadays. Used to be easier when people literally had to kick some butt to make it through every single day. The reason our world population is booming is because we make it so easy for people not to die off from ennui and depression nowadays. If you have nothing else in your life, there is still cheap sugar products and alcohol. Take that away and watch people either get up spitting and ready to fight or lay around melting into the earth out of despair. This one song got me through some pretty black stuff in my younger days. Time to get to WORK.

Twittascope nailed it this morning. Casual convo for me is like death lasers if I fail to monitor, and I've already bitten Scott's head off 3 times just this weekend, even though I didn't want to. And it was surprising because I haven't done that in awhile.

See, if I weren't a scifi nut, my mentality might have morphed me into someone like this. Click to see more. The Hello Kitty AR-15 is jaw-dropping cool.

    pinkgun

But I'm not a gun person, and in the book you'll find out why. There's even cooler pink camo stuff out there (check out the cars and the cakes), but that's really not me, either. Moving on. I've got to get the egg situation under control. I have 6 dozen eggs in my fridge, and normally I do a pretty good job of rotating them, but lately I'm losing track because we're just not using them as quickly as my girls lay, and I ran into a couple of questionably almost rotten ones a few days ago. Not cool. So today I'm going through all the eggs in the fridge and repurposing them into other forms that can keep longer in the freezer. Before burrito came along I did stuff like that all the time. If you think juggling eggs is hard, trying doing that while you're having burrito parties.

In the meantime, gotta rock out MOAR WURDZ. Time to work!

  • dreaming of surreality

Pollen.com says juniper, elm, and maple are revving up. I'm already sneezing after briefly stepping outside. Might hafta go back on the zyrtec soon. Spring trees are the worst for me, generally lasts through May.

Starting to feel more on top of stuff, got a couple of beta readers started on homework assignments, getting back on track with my weekly radio listening schedule, getting past the latest PT and falling outside recovery, change and upheaval with burrito is settling back down into a new routine, feeling productive getting several work projects going again, crossing my fingers everything stays this smooth now till we're home from vacation in a couple of months. I know it's unlikely, given years of experience with continual abrupt interruptions, but still hopeful. I know I thrive under pressure, but I still dream of the sort of surrealism where I float through a whole week unaware of the time passing because I'm so engrossed in my own thing.

Gotta stay focused on my goals.

  • pink and black paisley

Last fall I beta tested the refurbished Photobucket and got a free month and lowered rate on my pro account. Recently I beta tested their new shared hashtag and just got a year extension on my pro account, huzzah! This screen capture will click to full size if you want to read it.

The burrito party is still going on. She's a really good baby but we're worn out. My head is like smashed potatoes and gravy, and chores might go a lot slower today. We've reached the rolling stage, and being the hyper Energizer bunny that she is, she rolls right across the livingroom so fast that we're already having to clear out extension cords and turn some of the furniture. After she goes home I may have to turn all the tech off and meditate in a dark corner so I'll be able to sleep tonight.

Was rummaging through my LP boxes in the basement a couple days ago trying to find some of my fave Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky tunes and ran into this album. Only 2500 printed, picked it up in a mall in Phoenix way back in the 80's.

Our crocuses (croci?) are late this year. I've got more pix up at pinterest.

    jonquils

I keep getting '502 bad gateway' alerts every time I try to preview or save this post, so it just keeps getting longer and longer... I need to stop and get my head going on something else. Sometimes I put paisley in my search engine and just scroll through the patterns while my head takes a break. Usually run into some pretty cool stuff doing that.
